After the weird reactor level, this one's a standard Descent 3 gameplay again.

As usual, Moon has written a walkthrough for this level in his Descentdarium. At the bottom of his page, he provides some recorded game demos to explain some pitfalls in more detail.

A nice explanation on how to get through chapter 8 of the Retribution is also available on Gamespot. This trick still stands: Go for a left mouse click in the page and press CTRL-A to select all text. That makes it more readable for healthy eyes.

Descent 3: Retribution level 8 can also be played in co-op (co-operative mode) and in anarchy. You can also play it in robo-anarchy, but you should set it to a higher difficulty level (maybe ace or insane). It is not suitable for most of the other game types like CTF etc.

In co-op, the players need to be aware that the level has a blocker in the last heatsink. As soon as the first player goes down to the bottom of the last heatsink, the ceiling door shuts and locks, leaving remaining players outside, unable to accompany the gameplay for the remaining rest of the level. In order to play this level together in co-operative mode, all players need to ralley in the upper part of the last heatsink before they go down to the bottom as a team. Only then all players can enjoy completing the level as a group.
